Coffee Bags & Pods

How do I choose the grind size I need?

We’ve added a drop down menu on each coffee bag product page, giving you the option to select between 4 types of grind as per your own preferences.

We recommend buying WHOLE BEAN as the product would keep fresh for longer and ground as needed at home, giving you the ability to get the grind size that’s best for your daily needs and choice and an overall greater coffee experience.

You can choose between
WHOLE BEAN
Whole bean coffee keeps fresher for longer and maintains flavour, aromatic compounds and complexity
FRENCH PRESS – COARSE
larger and rougher, traditionally used for longer brews as fewer coffee particles are exposed to the water
DRIP – MEDIUM
or “drip grind,” sandier and widely used in automatic drip coffeemakers and the Chemex
ESPRESSO – FINE
powderier, used in brewing methods based on pressure and shorter brewing times, for instance espresso or AeroPress.

You can get our selected COFFEE BAGS in the type of grind that best suits your brewing style.

DO YOU SELL DECAF?
Yes, both in coffee beans and Nespresso® Compatible Pods. We’ve selected two caffeine-free, chemical-free Swiss Water® products that still maintain all the original flavour and characteristics of each bean. Our Colombia Swiss Water® Decaf in bags is a single origin Arabica with rich walnut with smokey and cocoa notes The Brazilian – Swiss Water ® Decaffeinated in Nespresso® pods is also a single origin Arabica, smooth, mild and sweet with good notes of roasted peanut, soft milk chocolate and cookie dough.
DO YOU ADD ADDITIONAL FLAVOURS TO YOUR COFFEE?
Not at all, in fact our Organic, Fairtrade, Rainforest Alliance and other speciality certified coffees, are kept apart to avoid contamination and guarantee certifications standards. When roasting, coffee blending normally happens in advance and technology will never replace the artistry of our skilled and knowledgeable experts. Regular and meticulous maintenance of our roasting equipment minimises a build-up of coffee oils that could compromise flavours. Taste notes are used on our packaging and website to differentiate each coffee and provide guidance when choosing the right product. We might describe a product as floral or herbal, delicate or sharp but remember that taste is subjective and based on personal opinions and feelings rather than on facts.
IS YOUR COFFEE LIGHT ROAST OR DARK ROAST?
Our carefully roasted samples are checked for bean defects, moisture content, followed by sample roasting and cupping and they must fit quality requirements or they’ll be discarded. All sample roasts are produced to a precise roast colour 90 (mid-range roast colour), balancing natural sugars with acidity for each single origin or blend. Samples are cupped and checked for approval before entering production. As you know, taste is subjective, so just experiment with your coffee by adjusting quantities and brewing times for your perfect cup.
WHAT BREWING METHOD IS BEST?

It really depends on how you like your coffee at home. There are a few home brewing methods and each one will ultimately provide you with a different tasting experience.

We provide coffee and gear for 4 main brewing methods:
Cafetiere – easy, fast, produces tasty coffee with minimal effort
Chemex – smooth brew, good for picking up the refined flavours of the coffee
V60 – similar to the Chemex, this method highlights the distinct flavours in your coffee
Aeropress – full-bodied and stronger coffee, normally for one person.

Find our selected coffee products on our BUY COFFEE page and our range of home brewing accessories on our BUY GEAR page.

Why do your coffee bags have a valve?
The “degassing” valve on our coffee bags has two important functions: to release CO2 and prevent bloating and to keep oxygen out to keep the product fresh. Once coffee has been roasted it produces carbon dioxide (CO2) for a long period of time. If CO2 accumulates, the bag would inflate, misshape and possibly even burst. The valve allows gasses to escape and simultaneously prevents other gasses, including oxygen, from entering. Coffee has a shelf life of about 6 to 9 months. If coffee is exposed to oxygen it becomes stale and alters its flavour. This is called oxidisation and, by keeping oxygen out, the valves will keep your coffee as fresh as possible for as long as possible. Remember, once the bag has been opened, store in a cool dry place.
HOW DO YOU MONITOR THE QUALITY OF YOUR PRODUCT?

Consistently providing high quality products is extremely important to us. Our Quality Assurance process follows 4 main steps to guarantee our coffee is always the best it can possibly be.
It starts with storing our beans in strictly controlled environment and temperatures before small amount of different batches get inspected and tested. Once approved, samples are roasted in carefully maintained roasting equipment, with specific temperatures and roasting times for each type. Lastly, thermal print for product quality and packaging integrity and labels are checked before dispatching so that you can enjoy our freshest coffee at its best.

WHERE SHOULD I STORE MY COFFEE TO KEEP IT FRESH?
Fresh coffee always tastes best and storing it the right way means you can enjoy a fuller aroma for longer. Coffee’s biggest adversaries are air and oxygen, moisture and damp, direct and indirect heat, and light. The main thing to do to counter all of that in one go is to store your coffee in an air-tight container and keep it at room temperature in a dark and cool place away from light. There are different views about “freezing” coffee but if that is a suitable option for you, it is ultimately up to your personal circumstances. But the one other thing that can be done to keep coffee fresh for longer is to grind it yourself as and when needed. As grinding increases the coffee’s surface area, it will be further exposed to air and oxygen, speeding up the deterioration. Whole beans keep better for longer, so just by grinding the required amount when needed, you would effectively enhance your coffee’s freshness. WHICH MACHINES ARE YOUR PODS COMPATIBLE WITH?

Our Aluminium Nespresso® Compatible Capsules are 100% recyclable and can be used with any Nespresso® Compatible machine.
With so many new models being marketed by so many manufacturers, it would be almost impossible to be absolutely and unequivocally certain about full compatibility.
As a rule of thumb, the best way is to refer to the manufacturer’s recommendations and, if a machine is Nespresso® Compatible it would also be compatible with our capsules.

Check out our capsules range on the COFFEE PODS page.

CAN I RECYCLE YOUR PODS?

Our Aluminium Nespresso® Compatible Capsules are 100% recyclable.
This incredible material
is impermeable and it keeps your coffee dry and fresh,
it is odourless so it won’t contaminate your coffee’s flavour,
it is ductile yet strong so it’s great for transportation and storage,

WHY IS MY FAVOURITE COFFEE NOT AVAILABLE?
One of the elements that makes the production of consistently good coffee a challenge is seasonality. Coffee is an agricultural product, like vegetables and fruit and it is produced in different areas of the world and harvested at various times of the year. With some exceptions, coffees produced in the northern half of the planet reach the most flavour from summer into autumn. Coffees grown in the southern half of the planet generally taste best from early winter into spring. We make sure we provide the freshest product available and that reflects availability at certain times of the year. Don’t worry, if you can’t find a specific type of coffee from our online selection just CONTACT US and we’re always happy to help.
